The kids were very happy to be able to sit at the table to eat. I feel so bad that it's been as long as it has. It's not like the kids weren't fed. They were. Just not at the table. I will be doing everything in my power to not allow it to get covered again.
I did go through the condiments and got them ready for hubby to take to work on Monday - a full 8 days before my phone will remind me to send them in. I only saved 5 packets of honey from the one box. The rest is going in. I was really sort of grossed out by the 'honey sauce' that was in there. I'd never paid any attention to it before. It's a mixture of honey and high fructose corn syrup. At least honey has some nutritional value, but 'honey sauce'? What's the point?
Got a thick thermal underwear shirt on clearance. I'm hoping it will help keep me warm and keep things a bit more under control with the fibro. Getting winter weather again seems to have an impact on my achiness. I'm hoping it will help.
Working on putting up the cubby above the refrigerator and stove this weekend. We had to tear the old cabinets down several months ago when we bought a new refrigerator. They were so low the new refrigerator wouldn't fit. So we're hoping to get the cubby up this weekend, so we can get the small appliances in the baskets we bought and put them away. That will help tremendously with the clutter in the kitchen area. It's been really frustrating having to work around it all this time.
So. Now you know what we'll be doing this weekend. What are your plans?
Compulsive hoarding is a mental disorder that is just beginning to be understood. As a hoarder, I have acquired things over the years with a specific purpose in mind at the time of the acquisition, used some of those items for their intended purposes, forgotten the goal for different objects, but now that I find that they have outlived their purpose in my life I am struggling to rid myself of those same things.
You can read the start of my journey here.

Sounds good. My plans on the weekends are all about the farm, cleaning stals ,checking cows blah blah, maybe get some housekeeping done too
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your table is clean! Mine has stuff ALL OVER IT. blech. I should be cleaning right now.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get a fibro flare-up I wrap up in a blanket and wait it out. Once I am no longer freezing, I feel better. Oh and I live in Florida and the flare-ups even occur in the summer. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteTry a high antioxidant supplement or juice supplement. You can usually find them at the health food store or someplace like Vitamin Shoppe. I also have a 3 1/2 horsepower professional blender that blends everything including raspberry seeds! I make really high antioxidant smoothies including carrots, blueberries, strawberries, apple with skin and core, grapes with seeds and fresh spinach. It stays sweet and you don't taste the veggies at all!
You and I discussed my weekend plans already.
ReplyDelete;)
You're an inspiration... just yesterday I did not buy something I was considering buying at Goodwill... I stopped and said, do I really need this? Or will it add to the clutter?
I thought of you.
And didn't buy it.
I just read a recipe for a highly nutritious shake...fill a blender with fresh spinach leaves, add a bunch of frozen (or fresh) strawberries, add 1 - 2 cups 100% apple juice and blend.
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried it yet, but the children of my friend said they love it (even knowing it has spinach in it) and they get upset when the shakes are all gone.
My husband gets really cold feet in the winter, and I was able to find an electric foot warmer pad for only @ $35.00 online. We don't need or want an electric blanket or mattress pad, so the foot warmer is perfect. Just google it online.
My bar is the "catch all" I clean it once a month or so and it ends up the same way.
ReplyDeleteI finished the taxes! That was enough thinkin' activity for a while.
ReplyDeleteNow I'll be catching up on some of the other stuff around here.
Or thinkin' about catchin' up....
Congratulations on having a working table!!! I've had one for 2 weeks now. It's nice!
Lucy
Thanks for the ideas, Portia. I'll have to check the horse power on my blender. It probably isn't more than 1, but I'll check anyway. :) And if I need to, I'll just use the juicer. And I so wish a blanket was enough to warm me up enough unknot my muscles. Heating pads help, but they fall short.
ReplyDeleteAmi - good for you for thinking it through! I try to stay out of all stores - thrift or otherwise. I think it's best for now. No sense in adding to the problem.
Jen - thanks for the recipe. :)
Lucy - Woot! Woot on getting the taxes done! So nice it's out of the way, isn't it?
Hope everyone else got the cleaning done they wanted to get done today!
I can't remember the last time I sat at the table for dinner, I have two tables and no excuses... this weekend I'll be sitting at the table! ;0)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, ED! :)
ReplyDeletenice to have the table back, I know.I left mine a little too late and my youngest(19) has gotten used to eating in his room, but huby and i still eat there, though over winter it was sooo cold and we had no wood, and seemed silly to heat the house when only 2 of us there wasting the elect. so we ate in bed with the electric blanket on ,tv and laptop .
