Compulsive hoarding is a mental disorder that is just beginning to be understood. As a hoarder, I have acquired things over the years with a specific purpose in mind at the time of the acquisition, used some of those items for their intended purposes, forgotten the goal for different objects, but now that I find that they have outlived their purpose in my life I am struggling to rid myself of those same things.

Ketchup on apples?

Yeah. So getting the scrubs tops sewn today didn't happen.

My dear friend stopped by, so we could pick apples. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We picked 2.5 bushels of apples, and there have to be probably at least 10 bushels left on the tree. We are going to have a rough time getting to the apples toward the top of the tree. It's a pretty tall tree. However, it did its best to help me out for when I pick our apples tomorrow.

A huge branch, which probably contains 15 to 20% of the total number of apples on the tree came down sometime in the last few days. The Hubster noticed it when he went outside yesterday, so it likely happened Friday or Friday night into Saturday. I will at least be able to pick all the apples from it without help, but it's a shame it came down. We're hoping to severely prune the tree and see, if maybe it makes a difference in the overall health of the tree. We'd love to be able to save the tree, if we can, but we understand that this might just be too big a loss for it. We'd just really hate to lose the apples. They're some of the best tasting ones we've ever had.

When the apples were loaded in her car, my friend and I were able to go spend some time together to catch up. We haven't had the chance in over a year, and I'm so glad we finally had the opportunity. I miss getting the chance to spend time with my friend. We won't let another year go by without going out for coffee again. I'm already looking forward to our next get together.

Right now, I have an appointment with my bed. I've got so much sewing and painting to do again tomorrow that I need to get some sleep.

Shoot. Look at that. I'm already late for my appointment.

Gotta go!

  1. I am so jealous that you have an apple tree! I have a couple mangy-looking citrus trees that the former owners of our house planted incorrectly so I am not sure they will ever grow properly. Bummer. I do get some lemons out of one of the trees at least. But APPLES! That would be amazing!

  2. C'mon - what's with the "Ketchup on Apples" title? (Unless you meant "ketchup" as in "catch-up", in which it just flew over my head and I should actually feel like a dork.)

I was given a bunch of apples a couple years ago. I peeled, cut and froze them, and they're still in the freezer.

  3. Ys, I also feel like a dork, because I was also looking for a recipe that involved ketchup and apples. (sigh) I'm so jealous you have an apple tree. All we have are crab apples. FYI: Not so yummy. -J
